The Ultimate Weekend Itinerary in Wilmington and Beaches for the Music Lover

Brent, Amanda, and Ben of Beta Radio

Ben Mabry and Brent Holloman make up Beta Radio, a Wilmington-based folk band with 60M+ listens on Spotify and a new album out called Ancient Transition.

When Ben and Brent aren't busy touring or making their own music, they're out enjoying the live music scene in Wilmington and Beaches. Here, they share their ultimate weekend itinerary for the music lover.

Day One

Breakfast on the Beach

Wrightsville Beach

"I would start the day with breakfast at a spot like SUNday's Cafe or Adapt Kitchen & Juice Bar."

Surf City

Surfing in Wrightsville Beach

"Then, head out to Wrightsville Beach and play in the sand, build a sandcastle, or go for some surfing by Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier.

Annex Surf Supply is a great local shop that will rent you a surfboard and you can head out and surf for a few hours, which is always great!"

Lunch at Tower 7 Baja Mexican Grill

Tower 7 Baja Mexican Grill in Wrightsville Beach

"You'll be hungry after an early morning surf in Wrightsville Beach so head to Tower 7 for a Baja Fish Taco or the Tower 7 Burrito, which are both really, really, really good. Honestly, everything there is so good! You'll be beat and pretty full after that mega lunch, so afterward, head back and take a quick nap."

Catch a Show at Greenfield Lake

Phillip Phillips Performing at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington

"In the early evening, head out to Greenfield Lake Park as the sun sets in the South Front District.

The amphitheater is there and it’s totally awesome for shows and live music."

Coffee and Some Reading at Bespoke Coffee & Dry Goods

Bespoke Coffee and Dry Goods

"The next day, wake up and go to Bespoke Coffee in downtown Wilmington.

It's such an awesome spot. You've got to get a pour-over coffee or a cold brew, and plan to just sit down and read there for a bit."

Grab Breakfast at the Dixie Grill

The Dixie Grill

"Then breakfast has got to be at The Dixie Grill in downtown Wilmington. You've got to order their huevos rancheros, which are awesome."

Stroll Wilmington's Historic Downtown / River District

Wilmington's Historic Downtown / River District

"Afterward, stroll downtown Wilmington and do some shopping on Front Street at a place like Old Books, or head to the local farmers market. You can find so much cool stuff there."

Record Shopping and Piano Bars

The Blind Elephant

"You can wind the day down by doing some record shopping at Gravity Records in the Castle Street Arts & Antique District before listening to live music at The Blind Elephant in downtown or at Bourgie Nights inside of manna ave. 123.

The Blind Elephant is an incredible speakeasy with a piano bar and it's run by this awesome woman Ashley Tipper. The Blind Elephant is in a secret alleyway in downtown and you have to be a member to get in, but dang, the piano player there is always incredible! I could just sit there for an hour throwing darts, drinking good cocktails, and listening to that guy play."

Bluegrass at Satellite Bar and Lounge

Satellite Bar

"And finally, if it's a Sunday, you've got to head out to Satellite Bar in the South Front District for some bluegrass. If you're into bluegrass, Sundays at Satellite is the place to be in Wilmington.

Satellite's a family-oriented spot with tons of people out in the open air, with pets everywhere; it's just so nice!"
